Kevin de Bruyne: My family followed Liverpool

New Chelsea signing Kevin de Bruyne has admitted that he followed Liverpool as a boy.

De Bruyne signed from Genk for £6.7m yesterday, but will spend the rest of the season on loan there.

"I have always followed the Premier League because my mother is half English," the 20-year-old said.

"We probably followed it more than Belgian football and, when I was young, we liked Liverpool."

De Bruyne made his senior debut for the Belgian national team in August 2010.
