Chelsea hit by fresh sponsorship suspension

Technology company Parimatch have moved to suspend their sponsorship deal with Premier League side Chelsea.

Since the government moved to impose sanctions on Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich, a result of his links to Russia president Vladimir Putin, some partners of the West London outfit have distanced themselves from the club.

Shirt sponsor Three are the most notable sponsor to act, and it has now emerged that Parimatch have made contact with Chelsea to instigate a change of terms.

A company statement read: "After considering the situation, we have decided to pause all joint marketing and brand campaigns with the club featuring the Parimatch logo and brand.

"Together with our licensed partner in Great Britain, we have agreed to use the LED display systems at Stamford Bridge exclusively for the promotion of our volunteering and donation activities to help Ukraine, which Chelsea FC are supportive of."

Parimatch, whose co-CEOs Roman Syrotian and Maksym Liashko are Ukrainian, are less than a year into their three-year deal with Chelsea.
