Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Crystal Palace

Chelsea injury, suspension list vs. Crystal Palace

Chelsea return to Premier League action on Monday night when they square off against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The Blues have suffered back-to-back defeats in the top flight, losing to Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers respectively for the loss of eight goals.

However, despite that double setback and now sitting in 11th position in the standings, Mauricio Pochettino's side bounced back with an impressive victory over Aston Villa in the FA Cup in midweek.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their short trip to the home of the Eagles.

Levi Colwill

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Tendon Possible return date: February 12 (vs. Crystal Palace)

Levi Colwill has missed the last four matches with what was initially described as a 'minor tendon injury'. While the defender has been taken off the club's official injury update, Pochettino says he will wait until Sunday before making a decision on the England international.

Wesley Fofana

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Wesley Fofana is yet to make an appearance for Chelsea this term due to a serious knee injury and the defender is unlikely to return before next season.

Lesley Ugochukwu

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: Unknown

Lesley Ugochukwu sustained a hamstring injury in the loss to Wolves on Christmas Eve and the midfielder has since been ruled out until at least the end of the month.

Robert Sanchez

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: February 12 (vs. Crystal Palace)

Robert Sanchez is still recovering from a knee injury picked up against Everton in December and the goalkeeper is targeting a return at some stage this month.

Marc Cucurella

Status: Out Type of injury: Ankle Possible return date: Unknown

Marc Cucurella was another victim of that defeat to Everton, sustaining an ankle injury which required surgery, and the left-back is not expected to return until March at the earliest.

Reece James

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: Unknown

Reece James underwent hamstring surgery just before Christmas and the Chelsea captain is facing a race against time to be fit before the end of the season.

Romeo Lavia

Status: Out Type of injury: Thigh Possible return date: Unknown

Romeo Lavia's long-awaited return to the Chelsea side following a lengthy spell out with an ankle injury was cut short by a thigh problem, and it remains to be seen when the midfielder will return to the first-team fold.

Trevoh Chalobah

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Thigh Possible return date: February 12 (vs. Crystal Palace)

Trevoh Chalobah, who is yet to play for Chelsea this season due to a troublesome thigh injury, has recently been spotted in training, and the defender is nearing a return to the first-team squad.

Benoit Badiashile

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Groin Possible return date: Unknown

Benoit Badiashile was forced off during the closing stages against Villa with what appeared to be a groin issue. As it stands, it looks highly unlikely that he will be involved at Selhurst Park, but Pochettino hopes that the Frenchman will not be sidelined in the long term.
