Chelsea team news: Enzo Maresca reveals squad for Copenhagen Conference League fixture

Maresca reveals Chelsea Conference League team news: Which goalkeeper will start?

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has revealed that goalkeeper Robert Sanchez will start against Copenhagen on Thursday night.

The Blues return to Conference League action at the last-16 stage with an away fixture in Denmark at the Parken Stadium.

Just four wins have been recorded from their 13 matches since their most recent European encounter in December, none of which have come on their travels.

However, since their 4-0 victory over Southampton in the Premier League, Chelsea have had a nine-day break to prepare for this contest.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday evening, Maresca confirmed that Sanchez would return between the sticks, as well as revealing that two players are ready to be involved after injury.

What has Maresca said on Sanchez, Chalobah and Badiashile?

With Filip Jorgensen currently viewed as first choice for Premier League fixtures, Maresca hinted that it was a simple choice to start Sanchez versus Copenhagen.

The Italian told reporters, as quoted by football.london: "In this moment, I think he already played Brighton away in the FA Cup, the last FA Cup game, and then he didn't play in the Premier League.

"Tomorrow he is going to play and we'll see. I said a few times already about Robert, it's a matter to give him different kind of games to try and help him. This is the reason why."

Meanwhile, Chalobah and Badiashile have seemingly coming through fitness tests in training. Chalobah missed the last game with a back injury, while Badiashile has not been seen since December courtesy of a thigh problem.

Maresca added: "They are both ready. Trev was not something serious so he is OK. Benoit has been training in the past week or 10 days, probably even more.

"Wes [Fofana] is not in the squad but also he is back. Romeo [Lavia] has started to train with us in the last two days. Slowly, slowly, we are getting players back and ready for the final rush of the season."

Chelsea looking to protect unbeaten streak

Chelsea have made the trip to Copenhagen having never suffered defeat in Champions League or Cup Winners Cup fixtures against Danish opposition.

That run began in 1998, with four matches being played against Thursday's opponents and two versus Nordsjaelland in 2012-13.
