Saturday's Chelsea transfer talk: Ziyech, Havertz, Ginter

The buildup to the summer transfer window has now begun, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Chelsea eye possible reinforcements.

The Blues failed to bring in a single player during the January window, despite seeing their transfer ban cut short by FIFA.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings from Stamford Bridge.

Saturday morning's Chelsea transfer talk news roundup:

Report: Chelsea close to sealing deal for Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz

Chelsea are edging closer to securing the signing of in-demand Bayer Leverkusen attacker Kai Havertz, according to a report.

The Blues are looking to add the Germany international to their squad as soon as possible, having already brought in Hakim Ziyech and compatriot Timo Werner ahead of next season.

An agreement is believed to be in place between Havertz and Chelsea, but the Premier League side still have to finalise terms with Leverkusen.

Football.London claims that talks are progressing well and the 21-year-old, who is valued at £81.5m, is close to becoming Chelsea's latest high-profile signing.

Frank Lampard's side have been warned that they may have to wait another month before Havertz links up with them, however, as Leverkusen are still competing in the Europa League.

Chelsea to move for Matthias Ginter?

Chelsea are reportedly weighing up a move for Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back Matthias Ginter.

The Germany international played a key role in the heart of the Monchengladbach defence last season - making 31 top-flight appearances for the Bundesliga outfit.

Chelsea have already been busy in the transfer market with the acquisitions of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, and a recent report claimed that the Blues are nearing a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen's Kai Havertz.

Now, Kicker reports that Frank Lampard has set his sights on another Germany international, and the Chelsea manager is keen to bring Ginter to Stamford Bridge.

However, even though Ginter's contract with Monchengladbach has just under a year left to run, the report claims that the Bundesliga outfit will still demand a hefty fee for the 26-year-old.

Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid are also believed to be monitoring the situation.
