Basel 1-2 CFR Cluj

CFR Cluj beat FC Basel in the first leg of their Champions League qualifying match this evening.

CFR Cluj have beaten FC Basel 2-1 in the first leg of their Champions League qualifying match this evening.

The first half looked like passing by without a goal until one minute before the break, when the home side took the lead through captain Marco Streller's effort.

Cluj responded just after the hour mark when Nicolas Godemeche set up Modou Sougou, and the Senegal international made no mistake.

The Romanian side completed their comeback just five minutes later, and it came courtesy of Sougou again, this time after a Gabriel Muresan assist.

Basel will be looking to overturn the aggregate deficit when they travel to Romania for the second leg in a week's time.
