Barca turn to Darwin Nunez after cooling Depay interest?

Barcelona are reportedly weighing up a move for Benfica forward Darwin Nunez next year after cooling their interest in Lyon's Memphis Depay.

The Catalan giants were unable to strike a deal with Lyon in the summer after agreeing personal terms with the Netherlands international.

Barca boss Ronald Koeman is pushing for Barca to make a fresh approach in January, but reports from Spain suggest the Dutchman is unlikely to be backed.

Instead, it is claimed that the La Liga side are looking at alternative options, with Nunez one of those being considered.

The two-cap Uruguay international spent last season on loan with Almeria in the Spanish second division and is now playing regularly for Benfica.

The report indicates that Barca are particularly impressed by the youngster's maturity and are tempted to make a bid of around €40m (£36.1m) in 2021.
