The 21-year-old, who has spent the last three seasons playing for Atletico's B team, had been linked with a number of Spanish clubs this summer.
However, Almeria have moved to secure the services of the midfielder, who has signed a three-year deal with the La Liga club.
Sanchez scored five times in 37 games for Atletico B last season.
