Wenger plays down Isco talk

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has played down reports linking the Gunners with a big-money move for Real Madrid attacker Isco.

It had been speculated that the Frenchman was preparing a club-record move for the Spaniard, who has been instrumental to Los Blancos' excellent form this season.

However, Wenger has insisted that he is not in the market for attacking players this month.

"No, we are not on [Isco's] case," he told reporters.

"We have plenty of creative players. We are more short on the defensive side of our game, not on the offensive side. We have plenty of offensive players.

"We just spoke about [Lukas] Podolski who just went out, we spoke about [Yaya] Sanogo going out because we have so many offensive players that they don't get a chance to play. So we won't buy someone else in the attack."

Isco joined Real Madrid from Malaga in 2013.
