Roma 'want Arsenal to pay Mkhitaryan salary'

Roma reportedly have no intention of meeting Henrikh Mkhitaryan's contract demands, despite being keen to sign the Arsenal playmaker on a permanent basis.

Having contributed six goals and four assists during an injury-hit campaign, both Roma and Mkhitaryan allegedly want to continue their relationship into a second season.

The Gunners, who are said to be willing to complete a sale, are allegedly looking for a fee in the region of £9m.

However, according to ESPN, Roma will also request that the Premier League giants pay a portion of the 31-year-old's current wages, said to be £180,000 per week.

The report suggests that a deal will only be finalised should all parties be able to reach a compromise during the next transfer window.
