William Saliba returning to Arsenal from his loan spell at Marseille in January is 'out of the question', according to journalist Julien Maynard.

Arsenal reportedly have no plans to recall William Saliba from his loan spell at Marseille early.

The 20-year-old has established himself as a mainstay of the Olympiens side under Jorge Sampaoli and has already featured 10 times in all competitions during the 2021-22 season.

Given his rapid rise and Arsenal's lack of squad depth in the centre-back areas, rumours were circulating that Saliba could have been recalled back to North London in January.

However, TF1 journalist Julien Maynard quashed such talk on Twitter, posting: "According to our information, despite some rumors, there is no question for William Saliba to leave OM this winter. The defender will remain Marseille at least until the end of the season."

Saliba is yet to make a first-team appearance for Arsenal, and his temporary move to Marseille represents his third loan away from the club after previous stints with Saint-Etienne and Nice.

The France Under-21 captain is due to see his Emirates deal expire in the summer of 2024, but Mikel Arteta reportedly plans to integrate him into the first team next season.
