A £300m break clause in Martin Odegaard's contract at Real Madrid may reportedly be a problem for Arsenal in their pursuit to bring him to the Emirates permanently.

Arsenal's chances of permanently signing Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid this summer could reportedly be hindered by a £300m break clause in his contract at the Bernabeu.

The 22-year-old impressed in the Gunners' comeback at West Ham United on Sunday, which lead to a mass of Arsenal supporters calling to make his loan move permanent.

Mikel Arteta has hinted at the possibility of signing Odegaard on a permanent basis, having been impressed by the Norwegian's performances since his arrival at the Emirates Stadium.

However, The Mirror reports that there is a £300m break clause in his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu which could complicate the transfer for Arsenal.

The deal to bring the youngster to the Emirates Stadium permanently is likely to depend on the finances of the North London club, which will be directly affected by whether or not they qualify for Europe this season.

Odegaard has featured in all but one of Arsenal's games since his arrival from Spain.
