Arsenal injury, suspension list and return dates for Aston Villa: Calafiori, Saka, Jesus latest

Sports Mole rounds up all of Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Aston Villa.

On cloud nine after getting the better of their biggest adversaries, Arsenal welcome former boss Unai Emery back to the Emirates on Saturday evening, as Aston Villa provide a stern Premier League test.

Mikel Arteta's men responded to back-to-back knockout defeats with a well-earned 2-1 North London derby win over Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday evening, where Leandro Trossard completed a first-half comeback.

Capitalising on Chelsea, Liverpool and Nottingham Forest all dropping points, the Gunners have moved to within four points of Arne Slot's men in the Premier League table, although the Reds still have that crucial game in hand.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their clash with Villa, who subjected David Moyes to a losing return as Everton boss with a 1-0 triumph on January 15.

Gabriel Jesus

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Arsenal confirmed on Tuesday that Gabriel Jesus's knee injury was as bad as first feared; the Brazilian attacker has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament rupture and will not play again this season.

Ethan Nwaneri

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: February 2 (vs. Manchester City)

Ethan Nwaneri's muscular problem is nowhere near as severe as Jesus's ACL injury, but the 17-year-old is still facing a couple more weeks on the sidelines and should not play again this month.

Bukayo Saka

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: April 1 (vs. Fulham)

Bukayo Saka was seen sporting crutches at the Emirates on Wednesday as he recovers from hamstring surgery, and the winger will not be available for at least another two months.

Riccardo Calafiori

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: January 18 (vs. Aston Villa)

Riccardo Calafiori has been absent from Arsenal's last two matches with a muscular injury, which Arteta has affirmed is not serious, but the tight turnaround makes him a major doubt for the visit of Villa.

Ben White

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: January 29 (vs. Girona)

Fellow defender Ben White is progressing well in his recuperation from a knee procedure, and even though this game will come too soon for him, there is a slim chance he will return before the end of January.

Takehiro Tomiyasu

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Arteta revealed at the start of the month that Takehiro Tomiyasu had done "some stuff" on the pitch after his second knee injury of the season, but Arsenal are taking no risks with him given his fitness record, and he will not be available for Saturday's game.

ARSENAL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Arsenal have no players suspended for this match.
