Arsenal injury, suspension list vs. Burnley

Arsenal injury, suspension list vs. Burnley

Arsenal head into their first home fixture of the campaign against Burnley with their supporters optimistic that they can return to the top four in the Premier League table.

After a number of quality additions, the Gunners began their season by registering a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United at St James' Park.

Three points were achieved despite Unai Emery leaving his new signings among the replacements, while a number of players still remain in the treatment room.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up their latest injury and suspension news ahead of the fixture in North London.

Mesut Ozil

Status: Slight doubt Type of injury: Security reasons Possible return date: August 17 (vs. Burnley)

Ozil - as well as teammate Sead Kolasinac - was ruled out of the game against Newcastle as a result of an ongoing police investigation regarding an attack last month. An update is expected later this week.

Sead Kolasinac

Status: Slight doubt Type of injury: Security reasons Possible return date: August 17 (vs. Burnley)

Like with Ozil, Kolasinac must wait to see if he will be available for selection against the Clarets.

Hector Bellerin

Status: Out Type of injury: knee Possible return date: Unknown

Bellerin is making good progress in his recovery from a knee injury, which was sustained against Chelsea at the start of 2019. However, the right-back is not expected to return until the winter.

Rob Holding

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

While Holding remains out of the first-team picture, the Englishman has been pencilled in to make an appearance for the Under-23s in the coming days as he bids to overcome a knee injury.

Emile Smith Rowe

Status: Out Type of injury: Groin Possible return date: Unknown

Smith Rowe has been hindered by injury since the beginning of 2019. However, Emery has suggested that the youngster may be in a position to return from a groin injury before the end of August.

Konstantinos Mavropanos

Status: Out Type of injury: Groin Possible return date: Unknown

Emery revealed last week that Mavropanos still faces at least six to eight weeks on the sidelines as he bids to overcome a groin problem.
