Robert Pires concerned for Arsenal's Champions League hopes

Former Arsenal midfielder Robert Pires suggests that Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos could try to frustrate the Gunners in their next two Champions League outings.

Former Arsenal midfielder Robert Pires has admitted that he is concerned about the defensive style of their next two Champions League opponents, Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos.

The Gunners lost to both teams early on in the group stages, which, coupled with the loss at Bayern Munich last time out, leaves their hopes of qualifying for the knockout rounds in doubt.

Pires has stated that Arsene Wenger's men play better against open, attacking sides and both Zagreb and Olympiacos might seek to frustrate them as a result.

"First, this is simple, and we have evidence, is that when you play against Zagreb, for example, you always have to attack," the Frenchman told Omnisport.

"Sometimes you even forget to defend. And generally, in this case - and it happened - you are subject to counter-attacks. And with the level of the Champions League, even against Zagreb or Olympiacos, it gives you complicated situations.

"Arsenal play better against teams like Bayern Munich than against teams like Olympiacos, who play defensively and who don't allow you space and catch you on the counter-attack."

Arsenal's only win in the competition so far came in the home match against Bayern last month.
