Team GB to face Italy in women's fencing foil quarter-finals

Great Britain's women have reached the quarter-finals of the Olympic fencing foil tournament following a 45-34 win over Egypt.

Natalia Sheppard got the Brits off to a good start by claiming two big victories, which took the team up to a 32-20 lead.

Sophie Troiano took to the piste after her teammate in the sword-fighting event, which led to a convincing 45-34 win following an overall struggle in the tournament from the British competitors.

The team are expected to face a tough test against Italy in the quarter-finals as they are the only team remaining that were not offered a bye into the knockout round.
