British fencer Natalia Sheppard through to last 16 after beating Julia Walczyk

British fencer Natalia Sheppard has advanced to the last 16 of the women's individual foil after beating Polish opponent Julia Walczyk.

Sheppard lost the first period 4-3, before drawing the second 5-5 and turning on the style in the third, winning 13-7.

Walczyk, aged just 17, is ranked 31st in the world, 95 places behind the Brit.

Sheppard will now face Carolin Golubytskyi from Germany, ranked 18th in the world.
