Natalia Sheppard easily qualifies for next round of women's individual foil

British fencer Sheppard into last 32

British fencer Natalia Sheppard has qualified second in her group to make it to the last 32 of the women's individual foil.

Sheppard won all but one of her five bouts, beating Teona Goglidze of Georgia 5-4 and Romania's Maria Boldor 4-3, before losing to German Anne Sauer 4-1.

The 31-year-old then went on to beat Israel's Delila Hatuel and Frenchwoman Julie Huin 4-3 and 5-4 respectively.

Polish-born Sheppard will need to wait for the other groups to finish to learn who she will face in the next round.
