Great Britain fail to capture bronze at European Championships

Great Britain have missed out on a medal in the men's team foil event at the European Championships.

The team, consisting of James Davis, Laurence Halstead, Richard Kruse and Marcus Mepstead, had reached the last four with victories over Hungary and Italy before failing to overcome Russia.

That left the quartet needing to defeat Germany in order to secure a bronze medal at the event in Switzerland, but they fell to a 45-37 reverse.

Team GB will be hoping to improve on their sixth-place finish at London 2012 should they qualify for next year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
