Italy women claim fencing clean sweep

Italy have claimed all three medals in the women's fencing individual foil.

Elisa Di Francisca overcame Arianna Errigo 12-11 in sudden death after a tensely-contested final.

Three-time individual gold medalist Valentina Vezzali took the bronze after staging an incredible comeback against fellow defeated semi-finalist Nam Hyun-Hee of South Korea.

The 38-year-old won five consecutive points, including two in the final nine seconds of regulation time, to win 13-12 in the priority minute.

Di Francisca beat Nam, Chieko Sugawara, Carolin Golubytskyi and Mona Shaito on her path to the final.
