Salah, Ronaldo miss out on spots in FIFA 22 TOTY

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah and Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo have both missed out on spots in the FIFA 22 Team Of The Year (TOTY).

Salah continues to go from strength to strength at Anfield and already has 23 goals and nine assists to his name this season, but that was not enough for a spot in the FIFPRO World XI either.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo finished 2021 with 47 goals and seven assists from 65 games in the calendar year, but the five-time Ballon d'Or winner misses out to Kylian Mbappe, Robert Lewandowski and Lionel Messi - the latter two handed 98-rated cards.

A star-studded midfield includes Champions League winner N'Golo Kante at a 96 rating, with Kevin De Bruyne coming in at the same level and Jorginho boasting a 97-rated card.

There is also no room in the backline for Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold, with Joao Cancelo and Achraf Hakimi featuring in the full-back areas.

Leonardo Bonucci and David Alaba are also absent despite making the FIFPRO World XI, with Paris Saint-Germain's Marquinhos instead partnering Ruben Dias in front of Gianluigi Donnarumma.

FIFA 22 TEAM OF THE YEAR:

GK: Gianluigi Donnarumma (96)

RB: Achraf Hakimi (93) CB: Marquinhos (95) CB: Ruben Dias (97) LB: Joao Cancelo (94)

CM: N'Golo Kante (96) CM: Jorginho (97) CM: Kevin De Bruyne (96)
