Georgia Ward qualifies for 10m final

Georgia Ward has progressed through to the final of the women's 10m platform event at the Diving World Cup in Rio de Janeiro.

The 20-year-old earned Team GB's second quota place for the Olympics thanks to her performance in the preliminary round yesterday and has now secured a spot in tonight's final.

Another assured performance saw Ward deliver five consistent dives - including four 60-plus efforts - to finish eighth in Sunday afternoon's semi-final with a total score of 304.00.

Ward's hopes of a podium finish in the final look slim, with Chinese pair Si Yajie and Ren Qian leading the pack with higher-tariff routines.
