Great Britain's Gary Hunt takes 27m high dive gold at World Championships

Great Britain's Gary Hunt claims gold in the 27m high dive at the FINA World Championships in Russia after beating off competition from Jonathan Paredes Bernal.

Great Britain's Gary Hunt has claimed gold in the 27m high dive at the FINA World Championships in Russia.

Hunt registered an overall score of 629.30 to finish beyond Mexican diver Jonathan Paredes Bernal, who claimed silver and second place with a total of 596.45.

The two divers had been close throughout the preliminary rounds and were eventually left to fight it out for top spot after Russia's Artem Silchenko slipped behind into a third-place finish.

The 31-year-old Hunt has impressed throughout the tournament having utilised his favoured three-somersault and four-twist dive routines.
