Interview: GB gold medal winner James Heatly

James Heatly talks to Sports Mole after winning diving gold at the European Games.

Team GB diver James Heatly took his personal medal tally to three in three days tonight as he claimed gold in the men's 3m springboard at the European Games.

After scooping bronze in the 1m event on Thursday, the 18-year-old went on to take silver on Friday with synchro partner Ross Haslam.

Tonight he completed the set, topping the podium with a routine that saw him finish more than 18 points ahead of the chasing pack.

Sports Mole grabbed a quick word with Heatly straight after he received his medal for a debrief.

Congratulations James! How are you feeling right now?

"Over the moon. Amazing. Just amazing."

You have one of each colour now - you're the only GB athlete who can say that.

"That's crazy. That should be wrong!"

Is the gold medal heavy?

"They're heavy. My neck's getting weighed down by it!"

Don't put all three on at once then. Your two and a half with twist was particularly good tonight...

"It felt amazing. I was going to compete that with an extra twist but that was going too well in training so I changed it to one twist. I'm definitely glad that I did that because I just knew that felt amazing as soon as I'd done it."

Have you spoken to family yet?

"No, but my mum was crying earlier so hopefully she'll have stopped by the time I see her!"
