Grace Reid wins diving gold for Scotland

Grace Reid has triumphed in the women's 1m springboard event at the Commonwealth Games.

The 21-year-old, who partners Tom Daley in mixed events on the diving circuit, delivered five solid scores to give herself a total of 275.30.

That ended up being a comfortable victory, more than 11 points clear of Australia's Georgia Sheehan, who took silver. Another Aussie, the experienced Esther Qin, had the bronze with a total of 252.95.

Team England's Katherine Torrance had been on course to medal but botched her final dive, the forward 2-1/2, which scored just 35.10 from the judges and left her in fifth place.

Alicia Blagg had the single highest score of any competitor - 62.40 for her forward 2-1/2 - but two sub-30 scores meant that her overall total of 228.55 was unable to trouble the medal positions.
