Nikita Shleikher disappointed to finish second to Matty Lee

Nikita Shleikher admits that he is "upset" to only win silver in the men's platform final at the European Games in Baku.

Russia's Nikita Shleikher has admitted that he is disappointed to settle for silver after finishing second in the men's platform final at the European Games in Baku.

The 17-year-old posted a final score of 556.55 but it was not enough to beat Great Britain's Matty Lee, whose 588.25 saw him clinch gold.

Shleikher's penultimate dive bagged him a competition-best 90.75 before following it up with a disappointing 59.50, and the youngster admits that second is hard to accept.

"I am little bit upset, but I was emotionally prepared," he told reporters.

"I was worried because there was a lot of Russian fans, and performing in front of them there was a little bit of pressure.

But I would have done everything the same whether the fans were there or not. It was hard but how I expected it to be."

Russia lead the medal table with 77, 32 clear of host nation Azerbaijan in second.
