Alicia Blagg, Rebecca Gallantree finish sixth at World Cup

Alicia Blagg and Rebecca Gallantree finish sixth in the 3m synchro at the Diving World Cup to secure a quota place for Team GB.

Team GB's Alicia Blagg and Rebecca Gallantree have finished in sixth place in the final of the 3m synchro at the Diving World Cup in Rio de Janeiro.

In doing so, the pair have earned a quota place for GB in the event at this summer's Olympics and GB's sixth diving quote place overall.

Blagg and Gallantree had earlier finished fourth in the prelim and were on course for a silver medal in the final until their last dive, the forward 3-1/2, which earned a disappointing score of 52.08.

Gold went the way of Chinese duo Shi Tingmao and Wu Minxia, while Canada's experienced duo Jennifer Abel and Pamela Ware took silver and bronze went to Samantha Mills and Esther Qin of Australia.

Although Blagg and Gallantree have earned a quota place for GB, they have not necessarily qualified themselves as the final decision of who to send to the Olympics will fall to GB selectors.
