Ireland's MacManus 'delighted' with 3m qualification

Irish diver Natasha MacManus has said that she is "really pleased" with reaching the 3m springboard final in 10th place.

The 17-year-old switched to diving after suffering injuries as a gymnast.

"I didn't really know what to expect," MacManus told reporters. "I was hoping for top 15 so I'm really pleased. This is the best result I've had in a while."

"I hurt my knee as well doing gymnastics. I went to try diving and I liked it. The gymnastics laid the foundations for the diving. I moved to Plymouth when I was about 14 and it was tough at first but I went for my diving and I've made lots of friends."

The British pair of Katherine Torrance and Lydia Rosenthall finished first and second respectively.
