China win gold in men's synchronised 3m springboard

China's Luo Yutong and Kai Qin have won the gold medal in the men's synchronised 3m springboard at London 2012.

The duo remained in the lead throughout the competition, and distanced themselves from the pack in the fifth round, earning a score of 104.88 for a forward four-and-a-half somersault.

Luo and Kai finished in first place with a final score of 477.00, followed by Russia's Ilya Zakharov and Evgeny Kuznetsov, who were locked in a three-way battle with the US and the Ukraine for silver and bronze.

Troy Dumais and Kristian Ipsen of the United States showed perseverance and consistency to earn the bronze, pushing Ukrainian pair Oleksiy Prygorov and Illya Kvasha into fourth.

Team GB pair Chris Mears and Nicholas Robinson-Baker, who only qualified for London 2012 because Britain is the host nation, came an admirable fifth.
