Chisnall hits nine-darter at Grand Slam

Dave Chisnall has recorded a 5-2 victory over Peter Wright at the Grand Slam of Darts in a match where he also hit his first televised nine-dart leg.

The St Helens thrower produced the performance of the tournament so far as he hit nine perfect darts in leg three, finishing with a 141 checkout, while he ended with an average of 109.84.

Wright must now beat Mervyn King to progress through to the next stage after King beat 2015 Lakeside champion Scott Mitchell by a 5-2 scoreline.

On a thrilling night in Wolverhampton, BDO representatives Martin Adams and Andy Fordham recorded excellent wins over Jelle Klaasen and Wayne Jones respectively.

Adams saw off Klaasen in a deciding leg as all nine games went in throw, while Fordham prevailed from a scrappy clash with Jones, eventually sealing a 5-2 win with a 106 checkout.

Michael van Gerwen all but assured his place in the next round with a dominant 5-1 victory against Kim Huybrechts, while Michael Smith reeled off four legs in a row to beat Adrian Lewis 5-3.

Steve Beaton went one better, winning five successive legs to beat Ian White 5-2, with Steve West remaining in contention for a last-16 place with a 5-0 triumph against Mark Oosterhuis.
