The Tour de France overall leader Bradley Wiggins gets burnt by a flare but is fit enough to continue after retaining his lead following the 12th stage.

Team Sky's Bradley Wiggins has revealed that he suffered a brief injury worry when a flare burnt his arm during the 12th stage of the race.

The 32-year-old was grazed by a flare carried by spectators, who were running alongside the cyclists in St Jean de Maurienne.

"I got hit on the arm with a flare, it burnt my arm a little but other than that I'm alright," said Wiggins.

David Millar managed to claim the 12th stage but Wiggins remains the overall leader, as the cyclist bids to become the first Brit to win the Tour de France.
