Police asked to investigate sabotage at Tour de France

Organisers of the Tour de France have asked police to investigate the deliberate placing of tacks on the road during Stage 14 of the race.

Around 30 cyclists experienced punctures on Sunday amid rumours of sabotage.

Leader Bradley Wiggins slowed down at one point in order to allow stricken riders to catch up.

"You're always going to get the small minority who are going to cause trouble," said the British cyclist, who has kept the yellow jersey for an eighth day.

Spain's Luis-Leon Sanchez eventually came in first on a chaotic day for the famous race.
