Mark Cavendish: "This is the dream team"

Cavendish praises teammates

Mark Cavendish has claimed that he can win gold in the Olympics road race with the help of his teammates.

The 27-year-old will be competing in Saturday's race for Team GB with Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome, Ian Stannard and David Millar.

Cavendish said: "I couldn't do it if I was doing this alone but I need four of the strongest bike riders in the world to help me.

"And I have got four of the strongest bike readers in the world to help me.

"We were out training today [Thursday] and it was like 'Oh my God this is the dream team'. Hopefully we can put that into practice and deliver the results."

Cavendish was the only member of the Team GB cycling team not to win a medal in Beijing four years ago.
