Contador wins Vuelta a Espana

Alberto Contador won the Vuelta a Espana for the second time in his career earlier today.

The 29-year-old went into today's final stage with his victory all but guaranteed.

Having made no mistakes during the race around the streets of Madrid, the Spaniard finished the entire event in a time of 84:59:49, which was one minute ahead of Alejandro Valverde in second.

Joaquim Rodriguez took third spot, while Team Sky's Chris Froome claimed fourth position overall.

Contador returned to action in August following a drugs ban.
