Fredrik Kessiakoff considers retirement if he fails to secure new team

Fredrik Kessiakoff admits that he will think about retiring from cycling should he fail to secure a new team following his departure from Astana.

Fredrik Kessiakoff has revealed that he is thinking about retiring from professional cycling should he fail to secure a team for the new season.

The 34-year-old Swede, who won the Pontevedra time trial at the Vuelta a Espana in 2012, has been released by Astana after spending four years with the team.

"It's a tough market and I also need to decide what I want," Kessiakoff told Eurosport.se. "I'm not sitting at home and feeling depressed but I don't know right now what to do next year.

"I'm trying to live in the moment and I'm enjoying my free time at home in Sweden to meet my family and friends. Then sooner or later it will become clear what to do next."

Kessiakoff turned full-time as a road rider in 2009.
