Di Luca tests positive for EPO

Italian cyclist and 2007 Giro d'Italia winner Danilo di Luca has tested positive for banned substance EPO.

The performance-enhancing drug is thought to have been detected in an out-of-competition test ahead of this month's Giro d'Italia, in which he is currently 26th overall.

It is understood that the blood booster was found in the cyclist's system at the end of April, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Di Luca previously served a two-year suspension for testing positive at the 2009 Giro d'Italia.
