Mark Cavendish claims first 2012 victory

Mark Cavendish claimed his first victory of 2012 during stage three of the Tour of Qatar earlier today.

The 26-year-old entered the home stretch with Belgium's Tom Boonen, whom he managed to out-sprint with time to spare.

"You never get the season going until you get the first win under your belt," said Cavendish.

"Hopefully I can get on a roll now and win some things."

Cavendish is currently in his first season with Team Sky.
