Result: Ethan Hayter wins bronze for England in points race

Team England's Ethan Hayter picks up bronze in the final track cycling event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, while Scotland's Mark Stewart claims gold.

Team England cyclist Ethan Hayter has won the bronze medal in the men's 40km points race at the Commonwealth Games.

Hayter won the final sprint in the endurance event to confirm his place on the podium, holding off the challenge of Australian Cameron Meyer and finishing the race with 68 points.

It was Scotland's Mark Stewart who produced the standout performance of the final cycling event of the Games, though, setting the pace early and building a points lead from which the chasing pack could not recover.

Stewart ended the race with 81 points - 12 points clear of New Zealand's Campbell Stewart, who picked up the silver medal.

Despite only occupying one of the podium places, England claimed three of the top six as Chris Latham and Oliver Wood finished fifth and sixth respectively at the Anna Meares Velodrome.
