Jason Kenny happy with Commonwealth Games silver medal

Team England rider Jason Kenny has said that he is happy with a silver medal in the team sprint at the Commonwealth Games this evening.

England were pipped to the post by New Zealand in the gold medal race at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, missing out by four tenths of a second.

Kenny acknowledged that there was a tinge of disappointment having missed out on the top prize, but believes that the silver will prove to be a good thing for the team in the long run.

When asked whether he was happy at having won silver, Kenny told Sports Mole: "Yeah I am. I think if you had asked me before I would have been happy with silver, but obviously when you make the final, you want to win.

"If you win silver you've lost the last race and if you win bronze you've won it, so it's a bit disappointing in that sense, but I think in the long run it's good for us."

The medal is the first for Kenny at the Commonwealth Games, adding to his collection of three Olympic golds.
