Super Kings see off Knight Riders

MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings recorded a 14-run victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League this afternoon.

The Super Kings opened the batting at the MA Chidambaram Stadium and thanks largely to veteran Australian Mike Hussey, they were able to make 200 runs from their 20 overs.

Hussey faced just 73 balls before he was caught by Debabrata Das, but he was able to contribute 95 runs to his side's score.

A knock of 44 from Suresh Raina also helped the Super Kings end their innings with a run rate of 10 per over.

In reply, the Knight Riders's trio of Gautam Gambhir (14), Brendon McCullum (6) and Jacques Kallis (19) struggled to make an impact as their team set about tackling their victory target.

Manvinder Bisla kept their score ticking over and the Indian batsman ensure that the Knight Riders were always in contention. When he was run out by Hussey on 92, it ended his side's chances of winning the encounter and they eventually fell 15 runs short of their target.
