Renegades ease past Heat in BBL

Melbourne Renegades have made a return to winning ways in the Big Bash League with a comfortable five-wicket victory at home to Brisbane Heat.

Brisbane were bowled out for just 80 before the Renegades reached 81-5 with six overs remaining.

Peter Forrest (22) and Ben Cutting (30) scored most of the Heat's runs, while teammates Jimmy Peirson, Joe Burns and Jason Floros were all dismissed for golden ducks.

The remaining six batsman for Brisbane scored a paltry 19 runs between them, with Andrew Flintoff disappointing at the crease with three.

Shakib Al Hasan ended with figures of 4-13 for Melbourne, who also had James Pattinson, Fawad Ahmed, Nathan Rimmington and Ben Stokes among the wickets.

Despite losing opener Matthew Wade for a duck in the first over, Alex Doolan (10), Ben Rohrer (25 not out) and Tom Heaton (31 not out) played a big part in helping the Renegades clinch the victory in routine fashion. Daniel Christian, James Hopes and Stephen Parry all finished with wickets for Brisbane.
