Shane Warne announces withdrawal from Twenty20 Big Bash League

Warne gives up on Big Bash

Former Australia cricketer Shane Warne has announced that he will no longer compete in the Twenty20 Big Bash League.

The 43-year-old, who retired from international cricket in 2007, has featured in domestic competitions since then, but Warne has claimed that it is "time to observe".

"The time is right for me to hang up my Big Bash boots," The Guardian quotes Warne as saying.

"Juggling business, family and commentary commitments across two continents is not easy. I've always loved the game but now it's time to observe."

Warne captained the Melbourne Stars last season.
