Kevin Pietersen desperate to help Surrey secure promotion

Kevin Pietersen admits that he is desperate to help Surrey secure promotion this season ahead of his return to four-day cricket next month.

Kevin Pietersen has revealed that he is returning to action in the County Championship because he is determined to help Surrey return to Division One.

The 34-year-old is yet to play a four-day game for the county this season, but will be available for selection next month when Tillakaratne Dilshan's spell at The Oval comes to an end, and he is hoping to repay some of the help given to him by Surrey recently.

"I am going to play in September to try and help Surrey get promoted," Pietersen told All Out Cricket. "I have said to Surrey I want to do everything I can to try and help them to get promotion, because I want Surrey to play first division cricket.

"I love Surrey, they have been fantastic to me, and I want to continue to give back to them because I love the club. I love the players, coaches and the management."

Surrey are currently second in Division Two.
