Dougie Brown doubts Warwickshire arrivals

Director of cricket Dougie Brown dismisses the notion that Warwickshire need to make new signings during the close season.

Warwickshire's director of cricket Dougie Brown has played down suggestions that additions need to be made to the squad over the winter break.

During the 2015 campaign, the Edgbaston-based outfit finished fifth in the County Championship, made the semi-finals of the T20 Blast and were unable to get out of their group in the Royal London One-Day Cup.

Despite those disappointments, Brown has insisted that Warwickshire would look to promote from within before any new signings were made.

"I'm not sure we need to bring players in. People would need to be better than what we've got and we have a great youth structure with some really good players coming through," he told BBC Sport.

"It was an indifferent season and a few senior players have been down on where they need to be, but we need to address that and march on. All we know is we cannot start next season like we finished this."

Warwickshire's fifth-placed finish was their worst showing in the County Championship for five years.
