Lancashire Lightning secure first T20 Blast victory of season

Lancashire Lightning defeat Worcestershire Rapids to win their first T20 Blast game of the season.

Lancashire Lightning have picked up their first T20 Blast victory of the season against Worcestershire Rapids this evening.

The hosts clocked a score of 194 for three, which Worcestershire were unable to chase down as they fell to a 12-runs defeat at Old Trafford.

Steven Croft was bowled out after just two balls to leave his side in a perilous position early on, but Tom Smith and Paul Horton steadied the ship en route to becoming Lancashire's star pairing.

Smith hit 74 runs in all from 53 balls before being bowled out by Saeed Ajmal, while Horton also clocked up 71 runs.

Moeen Ali and Richard Oliver were first up for Worcestershire, with Ali being bowled out for 11 runs.

Oliver hit two sixes for the Rapids, before Colin Monro and Daryl Mitchell clocked up 58 runs between them, but it was not to be enough with Lancashire edging them out to take the points.
