Jason Roy's 79 helps Surrey beat Kent Spitfires by eight wickets

Jason Roy's 79 sees off Kent Spitfires as Surrey go on to win the match by eight wickets.

Jason Roy scored 79 runs off just 46 balls as Surrey dominated Kent Spitfires and won this evening's T20 Blast encounter by eight wickets.

Roy's performance lit up the match as he and Tillakaratne Dilshan put up a partnership of 115 runs, hitting 16 fours and three sixes between them.

Surrey won the toss and elected to bowl first, with the decision paying off as Dilshan bowled Daniel Bell-Drummond for just four runs.

Kent battled back as Fabian Cowdrey (55) and captain Darren Stevens (56 not out) managed to get Kent's total to a respectable 155-4.

Surrey started excellently as Roy and Dilshan (36) started to stack up the runs, only for Roy to fall on the 12th over as Adam Riley finally got his wicket.

Dilshan went soon after on the 15th over as Kevin Pietersen (16) and captain Gary Wilson (12) saw out the match beating Kent by eight wickets.
