Kevin Pietersen ruled out of Twenty20 game against Middlesex

Pietersen must wait for Surrey return

Kevin Pietersen's return for Surrey has been delayed after he was ruled out of Friday's T20 Blast game against Middlesex.

The 33-year-old was scheduled to make his first appearance of the season for Surrey, but a recent battle with a finger injury means that he will require at least five days of intensive physiotherapy.

England's former captain is now likely to make his debut in the competition on June 6 when Surrey host Essex at The Oval.

Pietersen has recently finished his stint in the Indian Premier League with the Delhi Daredevils, who finished bottom of the table under his leadership.

Surrey will be able to select Pietersen for the remainder of the competition, but he will be forced to fly back to England for the latter stages of the T20 Blast due to his commitments in the Caribbean Premier League.
