Afghanistan defeat Zimbabwe, clinch historic ODI victory

Afghanistan become the first non-Test-playing country to win a multi-game bilateral one-day international series against a Test side after defeating Zimbabwe 3-2.

Afghanistan have won an historic one-day international series against Zimbabwe after defeating them 3-2 in Bulawayo.

They are the first non-Test-playing country to win a multi-game bilateral ODI series against a Test side.

Noor Ali Zadran and Mohammad Nabi scored 54 and 53 respectively, with Afghanistan setting a total of 245 for Zimbabwe to chase.

The Africans could only score 172 though, with Sean Williams hitting 102, as paceman Dawlat Zadran (4-22) and left-arm spinner Amir Hamza (3-41) bowled Afghanistan to victory.

They have now beaten Zimbabwe five times in nine meetings.
