British canoeist Ed McKeever claims 'psychological advantage' at Baku 2015

McKeever strikes canoe sprint advantage

Great Britain canoeist Ed McKeever believes that he holds an advantage after qualifying for the final of the men's kayak single (K1) 200m at the European Games.

McKeever bypassed the semi-finals after a strong finish in the heats, and will conserve his energy for tomorrow's final in the spring competition.

"I had a good start and just followed on from there, paddling fast. It felt good," said McKeever, according to the official Baku 2015 website.

"Maybe it doesn't take its toll on you physically, but it is good to get one over on your opponents psychologically by going through to the final."

Meanwhile, London 2012 silver medallist Saul Craviotto Rivero failed to qualify for the final.
