Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker affirms that he has every confidence in his side after an opening World Series defeat to the Atlanta Braves.

Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker has insisted that he has every confidence in his side after losing the first game of the World Series to the Atlanta Braves.

Baker's side slumped to a 6-2 defeat in the opening encounter, with five of those Braves runs coming in the first three innings as the Astros failed to make up ground.

Jorge Soler and Adam Duvall both hit home runs for the Braves in front of a 42,000-strong crowd at Minute Maid Park, but Baker has remained optimistic ahead of game two.

Speaking to the press, the 72-year-old said: "Our team doesn't worry, and our team's very confident. We have the knack of bouncing back after losses, after tough losses because they don't quit, they don't give up, they don't get down. That's the secret of sports.

"On a loss, you have to forget yesterday. You go in our clubhouse, I've never seen these guys worry. They know they can play, and they know they're going to rebound."

The Braves' victory was somewhat soured by an injury to pitcher Charlie Morton, who has now been ruled out for the remainder of the series with a fractured fibula.
